Another one for LIM!

Another card for this week's LIM challenge - Round & Round. For this one I took one of the pieces of DSP from the Fresh Prints Paper Stack, available from the Spring/Summer catalogue, to use as the backing. I fixed a piece of Crumb Cake Seam Binding around the card before adding the sentiment which was punched with the Scallop Circle Punch. Three butterflies, from Papillon Potpourri, were stamped in Coastal Cabana, punched out with the Bitty Butterfly punch and positioned around the circle. A few Basic Pearls were all that was needed to finish the card.

Simples Sunday

As you can see I have two cards for you today - one for the girls and one for the boys! I have gone with the Round & Round theme from this week's LIM challenge and used the dotty DSP from Watercolour Wonder for both cards.

The one for the ladies is teamed up with Tangerine Tango, which I used for the Scallop Circle, sentiment and ribbon (both retired) and the male version is made with Smoky Slate.
For this one I used a strip of cardstock across the card rather than ribbon and added some grey pearls from my own stash. The ladies card has three SU Basic Pearls.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll be back soon

Round and Round

Today's card is one I've made for this week's LIM challenge which is 'Round & Round'. The ladies have left it up to us how to interpret this so I decided to use punches.
I started off with a card blank and mat in Naturals Ivory cardstock and a piece of Soft Suede DSP. I used three different sized circle punches to punch random holes in the mat and, before glueing to the DSP, I paper pierced round each circle using a template and pricking tool.
The sentiment is a mash-up from two stamps - the first part being from Simply Celebrate and the rest is part of a now retired stamp.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

Treat Box & Matching Card

This is a matching treat box and card we made at a class today and the box is similar to the one I posted a few weeks ago which can be seen here. (The card was CASE'd from Jill Franchett)
The idea came about when I was doing some instructions for another box which we also made at today's class and, whilst checking them over, this idea popped into my head. The box measures approx 2" wide and 5" high so is just the right size for a few sweet treats.
It is made in Smoky Slate cardstock and decorated with DSP from the Watercolour Wonder pack. Of course it has to have some Petite Petals flowers (I don't seem to make much these days that hasn't got these little beauties on!!) and they are stamped in Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate then cut out with the co-ordinating punch. A few leaves from the Bird Builder punch and some colored paper cut with the Fringe Scissors finished the project.
If you would like to order any Stampin'Up! supplies then please do not hesitate to contact me and I'll be happy to help

Fancy fold for and 80 year old!

This is a commissioned card I have been asked to make for the Auntie of a work colleague - with the brief of Lilac & Cream in a box!
Three stamp sets have been used and they are Everything Eleanor, Papillon Potpourri and Summer Silhouettes with a colour scheme of Wisteria Wonder and Very Vanilla. The roses were made using a Scallop Circle punch with leaves from the Bird Builder punch and the sentiment was computer generated.
For the box (bottom right) I used Wisteria Wonder cardstock and Very Vanilla DSP along with a retired sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by

One for the Mum's!

I was asked by a friend at work if I would make her a Mother's day card and this is what I've come up with. Using my favourite stamp sets of the moment - Petite Petals and Gorgeous Grunge!
A very simple card using squares of Whisper White matted onto slightly larger squares of Tangerine Tango cardstock. The flowers were stamped, again in Tangerine Tango, punched out with the co-ordinating punch and shaped to give them a bit of dimension. The ribbon is now retired, the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and there is the addition of a few tiny Basic Pearls.
As this has three squares I am entering it into the LIM challenge as well!

Simples Sunday

For this week's Simples Sunday card I have used the challenge from LIM - 'Three' of something.
I have used some DSP from the Sale-a-Bration pack, Sweet Sorbet, and punched three circles with the 1" punch. This was matted onto a strip of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock and then onto a white card blank.
The flowers are a stamp from Petite Petals, punched out with the co-ordinating punch, with black pearls from my own stash placed in the centres. The card was finished off with a sentiment from Four You.
Hope you're having a great weekend

LIM - 'Three'

The LIM challenge this morning is to make a card with 'Three' of something. As I have a busy day today this is a super quick card featuring 3 images from Summer Silhouettes stamped in Pacific Point and Pear Pizzazz, with a sentiment from Sassy Salutations and finished with three Basic Pearls. That's all there is to say about it really!!
I chose Pacific Point because this stamp reminds me of the beautiful Agapanthus, there doesn't seem to be too many true blue flowers but this family excel in it!
I will be round to comment on three new entrants later (another part of the challenge!)
Enjoy your day and I'll be back soon

A Special Birthday

Today's card is one I was asked to make for an ex-colleague who now lives and runs a hotel in the IOW. She left a few years ago but there are still several of us who remember her and still a fair few who go and visit her quite regularly. It needed to be quite large so we could all sign it and it ended up being an A5 card.
I used a white card blank along with Smoky Slate cardstock and ink - teamed up with Raspberry Ripple. The background is stamped with the lovely Hardwood stamp and the sentiment is from Memorable Moments, cut with a Labels Collection Framelit and matted onto a larger framelit. The larger flowers are Petite Petals punched with the co-ordinating punch and the small ones are from Banner Blast, punched with an Itty Bitty punch, with a few leaves from the Bird Builder punch. I added the recipients name which was cut out with the now retired Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies and the ribbon is Basic Grey Taffeta (also retired!)

Thursday 20 March 2014

A very quick post today as this card is more or less the same as yesterday's but I just wanted to show you it in a different colour, this time Bermuda Bay.
As you will probably notice from the sentiment this card was for a very sad occasion and, whilst I would not normally use such a bright colour for this type of card, it was used for a particular reason that is significant to the recipient.

A late birthday!

Jane, the organiser of the card swap group, celebrated her birthday on Friday but due to last week being a very busy one for me I didn't manage to get my card to her on time. But, as they say, better late than never so this is what I made for her.
A very simple card using Blushing Bride cardstock and ink along with Gorgeous Grunge, Petite Petals & co-ordinating punch, a couple of sentiments and a few pearls (non SU).
I was really pleased with the layout of this card which was inspired by a 'shop bought' sympathy card sent to me by a neighbour so I made another in a different colour for a completely different reason.
Pop back tomorrow to see that one

Card Swap

Today's card is one I made for this month's card swap. Jane set the challenge to use embossing so I chose the Stripes Embossing Folder. I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped images from Stippled Blossoms - a much neglected set which needs to come out again! It is a 2-step set so I stamped the base flower in Pink Pirouette and, using my stamp-a-ma-jig, overstamped using Rose Red with a few Pear Pizzaz leaves dotted around. I then ran this through the BigShot placing just the bottom half of the card in the embossing folder. It is matted onto Rose Red and then onto a card blank with the addition of a sentiment from Four You, punched with the Scallop Oval Punch and matted onto an Apothecary Accents Framelit.
That's all for today, back soon

Gift box

As promised this is the gift box I made to co-ordinate with yesterday's Simples Sunday card. (If you missed it scroll down to the previous post) It measures 3" square by 3" high.
I think it was because the sun was so bright yesterday that the cardstock looks bright lilac when it is, in fact, Perfect Plum! Anyway it matches the card and the contents so that's all that matters :0)
I made the lid with Brushed Silver cardstock and the silver stamped butterflies are from Papillon Potpourri. I wrapped some Perfect Plum Taffeta Ribbon around the box lid and added a Perfect Plum Scallop Circle matted with a Brushed Silver Circle on top. The butterflies are a stamped one and the other punched with the co-ordinating punch with three Basic Rhinestones for the body.
Would you like to see what's in it? Well it's a pretty Bath Fizzer and the wrapper matches perfectly with Perfect Plum - even if the photo doesn't look like it!

Life is still rather hectic here as my sister and I still have arrangements to make for Dad's funeral so I will be back when I can. Until next time - happy crafting!
